A cookie is a small sized text file that can be stored on your device when you browse websites. Information can be recorded in that text file, such as your language choice for a given website. When you will visit this website again in the future, this cookie is sent back to the website. In that way, the website recognizes your web browser and can, for example, remember your language choice.

Cookies generally have an expiry date. Some cookies are for example automatically deleted when you close your web browser (they are called session cookies), while others stay longer on your device, sometimes even until you delete them manually (they are called persistent cookies).
